Progressive Is Better Than Conservative

Always The Progressive Personally, I am well and truly done with this retro-nationalism and racist demagoguery – where we’re alwa ys weepily look backwards at some imagined ‘Good-Ol’-Days’ – forever patronising the Aboriginals, LGBT and women – while terrified little men and low-grade intellects parade the latest American conservative nonsense from a so-called Think Tanks that rather unsurprisingly can give you the results of “research” – before any research is even conducted.     There was a time when conservativism was the balancing force to the over enthusiasm of progressive idealism.   Nowadays, the greatest feats of conservatism seems to be little more that cheap demagoguery, a perpetual squealing of “we poor white-guys”, and complaining about women in yoga-pants because they “friend-zoned” them.   It’s enough now.    I really don't want to live in a never-ending ground-hog day where it is forever the 1950s … or whatever the latest Conservative-in-Char...

A Global Shadow Economy finally manifests

A Global Shadow Economy finally manifests By 2050, 97+% of the worlds individuals will  be participating in, and fully reliant upon, a “Shadow Economy” that is outside a country’s official  national econom y   or   even  the world's economy . It will addresses most, if not all, of their economic needs and provide mechanisms whereby they  can exchange   “instruments of  value" for "goods and services".  Financial transactions within the shadow economy will be conducted with unofficial financial instruments (for example: Shadow-Dollars) and used to make “purchases” of goods and services. Small businesses will arise (e.g. manufactures, boutique medical suppliers, repair works, etc.) that will trade exclusively with Shadow-Dollars and operate in a manner that avoids any scrutiny of the official economy.   This Shadow Economy will arise as individuals will no longer have access to the official economy - because most of the world’s generated w...

Never Work For Free!

“We are constantly being asked to work FOR FREE for companies that will make a profit from that work.”  Your knowledge and skill are assets! Value them and others will too. It doesn't matter if you're an established professional or a person taking their first steps in their chosen career, your years of experience and/or your education represents a solid investment both - and in the case of many young people today, a large financial debt.  The costs of establishing yourself in the workforce are quite substantial and the "value" of that investment increases over time. Moreover, the nature of your profession and the quality of your work you perform is, effectively, a sort of interest (in the financial sense) on top of it all. This is often why specialists and experts within many fields can charge substantially more for their services.   To make it clear, when you work for a company, you 'add value' to that company ... and this company benefits from that. Your wor...

Welcome to the Blog

Whacking Dust! “Turns out, that if you whack dust really, really hard, it comes to life for a short while …”  As you see, the title of this blog, is “Whacking Dust”.   It comes from “Turns out, that if you whack dust really, really hard, it comes to life for a short while …” and it alludes to the Big Bang. I saw this somewhere or dreamt it, liked it and thought that it was quite poetic in its allusion.   Obviously, the purpose of this blog is to my thoughts into writing. I will write about technology, science and things that simply interest me.   I’m not a pedant and won’t discuss/debate the intricacies of various points. I don’t get much fun from that. Nor will I get too philosophical and do the “angels dancing on the heads of pins” schtick. That’s even more boring.   Nevertheless, having said that, I will (most of the time) try and be as exhaustive in my points and explanations as possible. However, I reserve the right for myself to just put my thoughts down a...
